Bio

Author / Linguist / Educator: Fluent in English, Russian, Tajik and Shugni, Savrigul firmly believes that the association and preservation between language and culture is important for an individual to be a contributing member of civil society. 

With Caritas Germany in Tajikistan, Savrigul was assigned with oral and written translating projects for diplomats and high profile individuals between several languages during field visits but her duties and responsibilities also included the identification and communication of NGO ‘s operating within Tajikistan for future collaboration on development programs. Due to her ability to adapt and perform with high standards in a short period of time, Savrigul was mandated by the University of Central Asia to teach at the International Presidential School in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.  

Apart from her passion of teaching, Savrigul  also served as a Linguistics & Culture Consultant and was a Lead Retention Analyst for First Microfinance Bank Tajikistan where she managed a multilingual team of field experts and spearheaded  a nationwide survey to further analyze the bank’s Loan Retention Program. At the grassroots level, the project was conducted in Russian & Tajik and the final product was produced and delivered in English.                                                                         

Savrigul is a member of TESOL International  and GATESOL Region 4. She is an advocate of and a firm believer that apart from the national or regional language(s) of any given country, English is what she considers as a truly Global Language. The comprehension of English, regardless of country,  is critical as it enables an individual to collaborate and access knowledge, science and technology  on a virtual platform.  English enables hope and hope is the first step towards alleviating poverty. 

Selected as a top applicant among hundreds nationwide,  Savrigul received the Indian Council for Cultural Relations Scholarship from the Government of India. Savrigul submitted her thesis entitled “The Typological Characteristics of Tajik”  which was an introduction to the  linguistic analysis of Tajik. In 2008, Savrigul earned her Master’s Degree in Linguistics from the University of Delhi, India.
